RP-R18 Rainy Night Markings Retroreflective Measuring Instrument is a professional measuring instrument used to measure the reflective performance of road markings. The measured parameter is the reflectance brightness coefficient R ‘or specific brightness of the marking, in units of mcd · m-2 · lx-1. RP-R18 can measure the backscatter brightness coefficient of markings under three conditions: dry R_1, wet R_ (L_wet), and continuous rainfall R_ (L_rain). This instrument is easy to operate and has reliable measurement values, making it suitable for both laboratory environments and on-site measurements. It is the preferred instrument for measuring the retroreflective performance of road markings in production, quality supervision, engineering construction, and supervision units.

Tools/raw materials
One main unit of marking retroreflection measuring instrument
One calibration block, one set of sprinkler devices, and on-site reflective markings

Click “Verify” to enter the calibration interface and calibrate the machine,
Before use, it is necessary to calibrate the instrument and calibrate each color. First, calibrate the black color, where the white color needs to be input into the reverse reflection brightness coefficient value assigned on the calibration board. The calibration process is as follows:

  1. When calibrating the black color, directly align the front end of the host with the position without any reflection points in the air. The arrow on the far left indicates the currently selected calibration color. Click on the black icon below the color in the image to verify, and wait for the orange bar to appear √, indicating successful calibration;
  2. Calibrate the white color, place the calibration board horizontally on the ground, and wait for the calibration color surface to be close to the host. Align the front end of the host with the calibration board at an elevation angle of about 30 degrees, and push the main machine forward until the calibration board is stuck. Click on the white icon below the color in the image for verification, wait for the orange bar to appear √, and the verification is successful; To verify the white color, you need to input the standard value of the calibration board. Click on the value directly to bring up the numerical input dialog box. Based on the calibration data corresponding to the calibration block, modify the corresponding value. After the modification is completed, click Enter to confirm. Select the white block (arrow on the far left indicates selection)

After the verification is completed, click on the homepage (the color block in the upper left corner of the homepage can switch to measuring colors), press the black button on the handle to measure. There are two colors of data on the screen, with the current measurement value at the top and the last measurement value at the bottom.

Under dry conditions, place the vehicle horizontally along the direction of travel at the specified testing points for testing, and take the arithmetic mean of the results as the test result.

Under humid conditions
Evenly sprinkle clean water on the surface of the reflective marking coating for road traffic on rainy nights. When measuring the retroreflective brightness coefficient under humid conditions, it is necessary to use a rain night shelter to prevent water droplets from splashing onto the tester. Use a handheld water spray bottle to continuously spray water and ensure that the marking and the edges of the marking have been soaked and soaked for 30 seconds. Alternatively, slowly pour 2L-5L of water onto the marking and nearby road surfaces using a bucket, and ensure that the mining animals pour evenly along the area to be tested. After observing that the testing area and its surrounding areas have been completely wetted, stop spraying water or water and start timing. The measurement value after 45s ± 5s is the test result

Under continuous rainfall conditions
When using an artificial continuous rainfall simulation spray device to measure the backreflection brightness coefficient, it is necessary to use a rain night shelter to prevent water droplets from splashing onto the testing instrument. The water source is clean water, with a spray rate of (0.8 ± 0.2) L/min, and the position of the spray nozzle is above the testing area (0.45 ± 0.15) m. The spray area is a circular testing area with a diameter of (0.5 ± 0.05) m. The water pressure of the spray device should be kept constant. After wetting the test area for 10-15 seconds, the observation of the test area and the surrounding area should be completed. After wetting, the measurement should be taken separately. The measurement value after 30 seconds should be taken as the test result. During the testing period, the water spray volume and nozzle position should be kept stable
