Inorganic coatings have now become a new favorite in the market

24 4 月, 2025

In recent years, the architectural coatings market has quietly changed. The new environmentally friendly coatings and traditional coatings have engaged in a hand to hand battle in the smoke-free transformation. Although traditional coatings still hold a large market share on the surface, the basic trend of future coating development shows that traditional coatings are gradually declining. The replacement of traditional coatings with new inorganic coatings is the trend. ‘Green’ and ‘environmental protection’ are highly valued requirements for the coating industry based on the protection of the ecological environment, and are the development direction of the coating industry. China’s inorganic coating industry started relatively late, but started relatively high. The rise of inorganic coatings will bring innovative power to the construction industry and be favored by consumers.

For a long time, organic coatings have been widely used due to their excellent decorative properties, diversity, and low price. However, due to the fact that the main raw materials for organic building coatings come from natural resources such as coal, oil, and natural gas, a large amount of by-products, volatile solvents, and residual monomers are generated during the production process, which not only causes environmental pollution but also wastes resources and energy. At the same time, organic coatings are applied to the surface of the wall, forming a coating film with the exterior wall. However, due to the pressure generated by air and moisture being affected by temperature, it moves on the non permeable surfaces inside and outside the wall, constantly acting on the coating. After a period of time, the wall coating film will appear hollow, bubble, or even peel off.

Compared with organic coatings, inorganic coatings have better breathability, pollution resistance, and comprehensive environmental performance. Due to increasingly strict requirements for the performance and environmental protection of architectural coatings, developed countries abroad attach great importance to the research and production application of inorganic coatings, and have done a lot of work in this area. Our country started late in this area, but has a high starting point.

Inorganic coating is a new type of interior wall oxidation modified water-based mineral coating mainly composed of cement-based inorganic water hardening materials and natural plant rubber powder in the latest research field internationally. It is green and environmentally friendly, with a wide antibacterial spectrum and strong antibacterial ability. The antibacterial rate can reach 99.98% within 2 minutes.

When applied to cement mortar, concrete, and masonry surface layers, it is firmly bonded to the wall through petrochemical reactions without obvious interface layers, which fundamentally differs from the film-forming principle of organic coating in the past. The experiment shows that the inorganic mineral interior and exterior wall coating test blocks do not change color within 72 hours after boiling, and the coating does not bubble, curl, or peel off. The cement-based coating for both interior and exterior walls of the present invention has significant characteristics of non combustible and acid and alkali resistance.
